The Josephine Martin Group
Decatur, GA

With a career that spanned six decades, the accomplishments racked up by Josephine Martin are awe-inspiring. She has worked for Georgia’s Department of Education, The USDA, The National Food Service Management Institute (NFSMI), Georgia State University, and the University of Georgia. In the sixties, she had a major role in advocating for expanding appropriations for child nutrition programs. A decade later, she worked with Congressional leaders to secure legislation to make free and reduced price meals available to all economically needy children. Josephine has testified before Congressional Committees more than 50 times, resulting in 14 “passed” pieces of legislation that bettered school nutrition. In the 1980’s, she spearheaded a feasibility study that helped create the NFSMI, later becoming it’s first Executive Director. Josephine has received many awards and continues to serve child nutrition as a consultant, speaker, and writer.
